The Ralston area preserves a rural crossroads landscape associated with early mills, agriculture and industry along Mendham Road West and Roxiticus Road.
Black Horse Landmark

Meadowood Park
A quieter Township park near the Chester border with a hiking loop and picnic pavilion set on property that once operated as a camp.
Mosle Preserve
A 120-acre Township preserve combining recreational fields with wooded hiking trails and a tucked-away setting at the top of Hunters Glen Road.
Patriots' Path
Morris County's regional trail system passes through the Mendham area and connects local open-space destinations with a much larger network extending across the county.
Schiff parking is limited.
The preserve reports roughly 20 spaces at its Nature Center lot and asks visitors not to park in fire lanes. If the lot is full, use the designated McVickers Preserve access rather than roadside or prohibited parking.

Where to stay when visiting Mendham
Mendham is primarily a residential community and has very limited conventional overnight lodging. Current travel inventories typically direct overnight visitors to nearby communities rather than to hotels within Mendham itself.
Bernardsville & Basking Ridge
A convenient choice for the eastern and southern sides of Mendham, with inn and hotel options and access toward Routes 202, 287 and the Gladstone Branch rail corridor.
Morristown
The largest nearby lodging hub, with multiple full-service and limited-service hotels plus restaurants, nightlife, NJ Transit rail service and additional historic attractions.
Chester / western approaches
Useful for visitors combining Mendham with Chester, Long Valley or western Morris County. Lodging inventory is more dispersed, so compare travel time to the specific Mendham destination.

A car is the most practical way to combine Borough and Township attractions. Main Street in the Borough is walkable in short stretches, but Township sites are spread across rural roads.

Parking
Use designated public or venue parking only. Small historic and nature sites can have limited spaces, especially during events and good hiking weather.
